Lost & Found Laundry Room Sign Tutorial

Hello, Wall Quotes™ decals fans! If your house is anything like mine, there are always socks around that have lost their match. Today, we're sharing a fun, creative, and stylish way to organize these lost socks until their mate is found. All you need for this project are Lost & Found Wall Quotes™ decal, a piece of wood (mine was 12" x 16"), some paint, Mod Podge, scrapbook paper, and clothespins.

Gather your supplies, and get ready to begin....
Step 1: Paint your wood (if desired). I decided to Mod Podge some circles out of wrapping paper to the sign, if you'd like to do the same, cut out your circles (I used a 3/4" circle punch), and place them on your wood. We'll first apply the decal to the wood, so begin by taking your decal and centering it on the frame. Tape the decal in place, and, using the tape as a hinge, flip up decal and peel off backing.

Step 2: Lay decal back down carefully and starting from the center, squeegee the vinyl decal firmly.

Step 3: Next, carefully peel back the transfer tape. To do this, start at a corner and peel the transfer tape off at a 180 degree angle-back and down rather than up and away. If necessary, use your fingers to press down on the vinyl as you peel back the tape.

Step 4: Mod Podge your circles (or whatever shape you desire) down onto your board.

Step 5: Let dry completely, and seal with one (or more) coats of Mod Podge.

Step 6: Place your clothespins on your board, and hot glue them into place.

Wall Quotes™ Decals in the Laundry Room (Three Great Ideas!)

Hello, Wall Quotes™ fans! Today, I'm sharing TWO fun ways to upgrade some of your most-used, hardest-working appliances in your home--your washer and dryer! The laundry room is a veritable workhouse as far as your home goes, isn't it time to pretty it up and show it some love? And these hexagon decals are not only fun and on-trend, but you can customize their colors to match your space! Let's get started with the how-to...

Step 1: All you need for this project are these decals from Belvedere Designs and some painters tape. Here's what my decals looked like when they arrived...

First time working with vinyl decals? Don't be nervous. Belvedere Designs includes a handy instruction enclosure to help you through the process, plus, an application squeegee to ensure your vinyl creations turn out perfectly.

Gather your supplies, and get ready to begin.... Step 1: Take your decals and cut out each hexagon. Using the painters tape, tape each hexagon to your washer and dryer, rearranging your shapes until you are happy with the design. You'll have to step back from your design every now and then to make sure each hexagon is straight and level. Once you are satisfied with the design, it's time to start applying the decals.

Step 2: Now it's time for the fun part! Take your first hexagon, and, using the tape as a hinge, flip up decal and peel off backing. Lay decal back down carefully and starting from the center, squeegee the vinyl decal firmly. Next, carefully peel back the transfer tape. To do this, start at a corner and peel the transfer tape off at a 180 degree angle-back and down rather than up and away. If necessary, use your fingers to press down on the hexagon as you peel back the tape.

Repeat for the rest of your hexagons.

And that's it! I also took some slightly larger hexagons and created a fun pattern on my laundry room wall! Using the same process as with the washer and dryer, just cut out your shapes, tape to the wall...

 ...and apply your decals!

Please forgive the lighting...even with new fancy-schmancy daylight bulbs installed, it still was a trial getting decent pictures in this room. Ugh. But wait! Is that polka dots you see?

Why, yes! It is! I mean, really, who doesn't love the polka dot trend out there? If hexagons aren't your thing, you can easily gussy up your laundry space with these polka dot decals from Belvedere Designs.

Choose your color, and apply in the same way as you would the hexagons. Easy peasy.

I know what you're thinking...

"I wish my laundry room were that pretty." I know; I do too.

Gotta love all this bright color, no? The walls, the towels - the clean washer and dryer - and yes, the fabulous laundry wall quote. Thanks for sending in your photo, Jackie. If my laundry room were this appealing I might get more done (sigh).
